As technology continues to evolve, appliances are getting smarter and integrating themselves more seamlessly into our lives. The Internet of Things, voice-activated assistants like Alexa and Siri,
Smart appliances, however, aren't so much about the technology as enhancing our everyday experiences around the home. While it might seem like they're complicating simple tasks, their aim is much the opposite.
But how does this have any real, tangible impact on our lives?
Connected smart appliances make it easy to control and schedule our everyday routines through a single smartphone app. Samsung (SmartHub), LG (ThinQ), Electrolux and Whirlpool are just a few examples of major companies embracing the connected home.
Air conditioners, fridges, washing machines, ovens and an ever-growing list of other appliances can be voice-activated, checked, updated or set at the touch of a button. Better yet, the more we use these appliances over time, the smarter and more accurate they become as they remember our habits.
Let's go even further and look at how specific everyday tasks can be enhanced with your connected smart appliances.

Not only can an app alert you to this, it keeps track of fridge temperature and other important factors.
A recent unveiling at EuroCucina, Samsung's smartphone app promises even more attention to detail. It's been touted as having the ability to capture expiry dates of fresh food, suggest recipes for ingredients close to expiry, and, for a family touch, display recent photos as a slideshow.
Some, like LG's SmartThinQ fridge, let you check their status through your phone so you can make sure things are working properly and that you have enough ice. Others, like Samsung's Family Hub fridge, have their own touch screen and can function as a communication center for your home, and even have cameras inside so you see what you're low on while you're out shopping.
