Had this unit for around 6 years now and it's still going strong. As I have always found, Sony products are generally built to last. This is not a small unit as it's designed to sit under your TV or ontop of a entertainment unit. This is however a very capable sound system from a single unit, I have previously had systems with a separate subwoofer so it's nice that's it's all built in and does the job very well! If you have the space for it, I would definitely recommend. There are new systems with more smart features, but this has HDMI and Bluetooth which are the main things I need. Through an update it has even got Google Casting!

First thing you notice with this is that its not a "soundbar" but a "soundbase", so dont expect to wall mount this as it needs to sit on a TV stand and has a fair amount of weight to it. In terms of sound quality i have never come across a unit with such clarity and ability to fill a room, the sizing and weight makes sense once you hear what it can deliver. In terms of design there's not much to it, but i like it that way as it doesn't stand out in the living room. I have it plugged into HDMI, don't use it all the time due to the TV speakers doing more than a decent job, but also like the fact that i can connect my phone via bluetooth! Overall great package and worth the investment, still pumping out great sound 5 years on.

I luckily bought this HT-XT3 second hand, (from someone emigrating), and does more than the job I bought it for.
