We bought this in the last month to match the Kettle we also bought. It just doesn't toast!! Using sourdough grain bread. Set the bread type to grain, set the toasting function to maximum - 6, we end up with hot bread with the faintest to no colour on it. We have to then put it back in and let it run to the 3 mark just to get partial colour toast but then it’s like eating a crisp bread it’s so dried out. Doesn’t matter how thick or thin it is. We thought this toaster could replace our old toaster that has the occasional off day but it still toasts vastly better. Glad we didn’t throw it out because it will be coming out of the cupboard. Very, very disappointed in Breville.

The other toasters are design for less browning on one side per the restaurant industry. Something like 70/30. It is my understanding that this toaster is closer to 60/40. Breville should clarify and add to the web site. That would explain why everyone complains about the other Breville toasters as not browning one of the sides. The Luxe makes perfect toast.
