Tips and suggestions for happy home living, from furniture and bedding to cleaning and more.
The short version: The Zinus Green Premium Pocket Spring Euro Top Mattress leads our list with an accessible RRP of $379 (priced as a Queen for ease of comparison, though all models feature a range of sizes). It stands out with its odour-neutralising green tea-infused memory foam and independent iCoil technology. Across this top-selling list, medium firmness, multi-zone pocket springs and built-in edge reinforcement feature heavily, catering well to a range of body types.

If your old mattress is lumpier than nan's gravy, it’s time to do yourself, your sleep, and your back a favour and get a new one. Finding the best mattress for your sleep position and body weight is essential for proper spinal alignment and minimising back pain.
Modern hybrid mattresses blend the durability of pocket springs with the contouring pressure relief of comfort foams. Whether you need a firm surface for back and stomach sleepers or a plush Euro top that best caters to side sleepers, there’s a lot of choice out there.
To make your decision a little easier, here’s our rundown of the most popular mattresses with Appliances Online’s Australian customers in 2026. And remember, we deliver mattresses for free and can take your old one away for free recycling, so it doesn't need to end its days on the nature strip!

Brands: A.H. Beard and Zinus are the most represented mattress brands with two models each, while one Sealy model makes the list.
Design features: The mattresses on the list have relatively high profiles, with heights sitting between 240mm and 305mm - partly due to the plush cushioned top layers that four of the five models have.

Warranty: Premium models from Sealy and A.H. Beard feature 10-year manufacturer warranties, while Zinus models have 5 years’ cover.

Appliances Online product expert Colin Jones says that while buying a new mattress can make a big difference to how well you sleep, you should consider whether you might also need a new bed base:
“If you have a quality ensemble base in good condition you're probably all good, but if you have a slat base it's worth checking the state of the slats for any breaks and also the distance between slats, because large gaps can undo the good work of your new mattress. The slats should be close together, maybe 50-60mm gap between each slat - any more than that and the mattress won’t provide the support you need because it isn’t being fully supported itself.’

The most affordable mattress on this list, this Zinus 'mattress in a box' model uses a 5-zone pocket spring system to deliver targeted support to the feet, knees, lower back, head and shoulders.
Its CertiPUR-US certified foam layers are infused with natural green tea extract to resist odours, while the plush Euro top provides both pressure relief and a level of luxurious comfort.
What customers say:
I'm very happy with the Zinus mattress for our spare room. Guests have mentioned that it was very comfortable and supportive. I have noticed that the edge compresses when you sit on it, which I suspect may be common with a bed-in-box mattress. Regardless, I think that the quality and value are good for the price.” - Dianne, April 2026

What customers say:
After relocating, it took me a couple of months to finally commit to buying a new mattress. I went for a mid-range option after reading lots of reviews, and I’m so glad I did. The medium-firm queen mattress is perfect for a side sleeper like me.” - Tash, September 2025

The Domino Sapporo mattress shares many of the same features as its A.H. Beard stablemate (#3), including a medium firmness level, the Conforma Coil support system for motion isolation, and a 10-year warranty.
It takes things up a notch, though, with its Performa Edge Support and its advanced Climalux quilting, which helps hot sleepers by dissipating heat and improving airflow.
What customers say:
Very happy with this mattress. I’ve replaced all our mattresses with AH Beard, as they are lightweight yet super comfortable. Guests comment on how well they’ve slept, and we’ve been guaranteed a good night’s sleep since installing this latest one. My only suggestion for improvement would be some handles or similar to assist in rotating the mattresses, but this is offset by their light weight.” - RegionalWA, June 2026

In addition to sharing many of the same features as its stablemate Zinus model (#1), including an independent iCoil pocket spring system, OEKO-TEX certified construction and convenient bed in a box delivery packaging, the Support Plus boasts a taller 305mm profile.
The soft-touch quilted Euro top sits over high-density base foam, isolating movement so restless sleepers won't disturb their partners.
What customers say:
Our first venture into cheaper mattresses and I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised. Nice and comfortable to sleep on, supportive and medium softness. The mattress is a little more flexible than I am used to and the edges are a bit squishy so sitting on the edge is difficult, otherwise highly recommend.” - Steve, September 2025
