From movies and music to streaming and gaming, let's talk TV, tech and home entertainment!
Welcome to the world of Hisense Smart TVs—packed with features, apps and clever technology, all designed to make your viewing experience easy and enjoyable. Whether you’ve just unboxed a brand new model or you’ve had one for a while and want to get the most out of it, this guide will walk you through the essentials.
Unboxing a new TV is always exciting—but getting it set up properly is key to making the most of your Hisense Smart TV from day one. Thankfully, the setup process is pretty straightforward, and most of it is guided step-by-step on screen. Here’s what to expect and a few handy tips to make it even smoother.
Pretty self explanatory here - plug it into the power and switch it on using the remote or the button on the unit itself.
You'll be prompted to select your preferred language— we recommend choosing English (Australia) to make sure everything is set up correctly for local apps, broadcasts, and support.
The TV will scan for available wireless networks. Select your home Wi-Fi, enter your password carefully using the on-screen keyboard, and wait for it to connect.
Tip: If your TV struggles to connect or buffers a lot during streaming, try moving your modem closer or using an Ethernet cable for a more stable connection.
If an update is available, it’s a good idea to install it now. These updates often include bug fixes, performance improvements, and new features, so you’re starting off with the best version of your TV’s software.
You may be asked to sign in to a Hisense or VIDAA account, depending on your model. This step is optional, but it can be helpful if you want to sync settings or access Hisense’s cloud-based services in the future.
If you’ve got a set-top box (foxtel), gaming console or Blu-ray player connected, you might be asked to select your HDMI input source next. You can always switch inputs later using the “Source” or “Input” button on your remote.
After the setup is complete, you’ll land on the TV’s home screen—ready to explore the apps, change settings, or just start watching.
One of the biggest perks of owning a Smart TV is having instant access to all your favourite streaming services and entertainment apps—no extra devices needed. Whether you’re keen to binge a new series, catch up on the news, or tune into the footy, your Hisense Smart TV makes it easy to get started.
The process may vary slightly depending on your TV model. Most Hisense Smart TVs in Australia run on VIDAA U, Android TV, or Google TV. Regardless of the platform, downloading and using apps is very easy to do.
Grab your remote and hit the Home button. This will take you to the TV’s main dashboard or launcher screen.
If your TV runs on VIDAA U, you’ll see an App Store icon.
If it's an Android TV or Google TV, head to the Google Play Store.
Use the on-screen keyboard or voice search (if available) to type in the name of the app. Most Aussie favourites—like Netflix, YouTube, 7plus, ABC iView, SBS On Demand, Disney+, and Kayo Sports—are all easy to find.
Once you’ve found the app, select it, then click Download or Install. Wait a few moments while the app is added to your home screen.
Head back to the Home screen, select the newly installed app, and sign in using your account details. You’re now ready to stream!
You can usually rearrange or pin your most-used apps to the top row of your home screen for quicker access. It’s a great way to make sure you set your Smart TV out exactly how you like it - rather than having to constantly search for a specific App you were just using.
Want to connect your phone, headphones or console to your new Hisense TV? It is super easy to do - Here’s how:
If your Hisense TV supports AirPlay 2, you can easily stream or mirror content from your iPhone or iPad.
Make sure your iPhone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Swipe down on your iPhone to open Control Centre.
Tap Screen Mirroring, then select your Hisense TV.
Enter the AirPlay code if prompted—your screen should now appear on the TV.
Most Android phones support casting via built-in options like Smart View, Cast, or Miracast.
Pull down your Quick Settings menu and tap Cast or Smart View.
Select your Hisense TV from the list of available devices.
Voilà—your phone screen should now appear on the TV.
Alternatively, you can cast directly from supported apps like YouTube, Netflix or Spotify using the cast icon.
Head to Settings > Network or Bluetooth > Devices.
Enable Bluetooth and pair your soundbar, headphones, or wireless controller.
Plug into any HDMI port on the back or side of the TV.
Use the Input or Source button on your remote to switch to the correct port.
This is the bread and butter for all your entertainment gear - whether it's your gaming consoles like PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch, streaming devices like Apple TV, Chromecast or Amazon Fire Stick, or even your DVD/Blu-ray players, soundbars, sound systems, and AV receivers.
If your model supports Chromecast built-in, AirPlay, or Miracast, you can cast content straight from your phone or laptop.
From Android: Open a cast-ready app (like YouTube), tap the Cast icon, and choose your Hisense TV.
From iPhone: Use AirPlay or cast via supported apps.
Make sure both your device and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Casting is perfect for sharing photos, streaming videos, or mirroring presentations.
Hisense Smart TVs pack in a heap of features without the hassle. From downloading your favourite apps to casting content and connecting your phone or soundbar, they’re designed to make everyday entertainment simple and enjoyable.
