From movies and music to streaming and gaming, let's talk TV, tech and home entertainment!

Updated September 2026
If you're researching new TVs, you've probably noticed that several of them feature Mini LED screens. Mini LED TVs use thousands of tiny LEDs for backlighting instead of the larger ones used in other LED screens, which creates vastly more dimming zones. This means you get better contrast, deeper blacks, and brighter highlights - basically, a more impressive picture quality overall. So how do they compare to OLED TVs, which are often significantly more expensive but renowned for the ultimate contrast enabled by their pure black levels? OLEDs still just about win on contrast, but Mini LEDs counter with brighter highlights and no risk of burn-in.
While Mini LED TVs cost more than regular LED models of otherwise similar specs, the technology has become more accessible as manufacturers scale up production. What was once a specialty feature for early adopters is now becoming mainstream, with Mini LED on track to be the new standard for LED TV displays.
We've pulled together seven of our most popular Mini LED models so you can see which of these TVs are making their way onto thousands of entertainment units and walls across Australia. Whether you're a gamer chasing higher refresh rates, a movie buff who wants cinematic visuals, or interior design aficionado craving a smart TV that doubles as living room artwork, there's something here for you. All these models are available in multiple screen sizes, but, so we can compare prices and specs fairly, we're looking at the 65 inch versions in the comparisons below.

Brand: Samsung dominates this lineup with three models, the QN80H (#1), M70H (#3) and The Frame Pro (#5), while TCL follows with two models, the C7K (#2) and C6L (#4). LG (#6) and Sony (#7) each appear once.
Screen size: All seven models are available in multiple sizes, with the 65-inch versions used for our price and specification comparisons. The range varies between models, with screen sizes from 50" to 100" available across the lineup.
Screen resolution: These are all 4K TVs, featuring approximately 8 million pixels for sharp, detailed images. 4K has become the standard resolution for new TVs, while 8K remains largely a high-end option with relatively little native 8K content available.
Energy Star rating: Energy Star ratings range from 4.0/10 to 6.0/10. The LG QNED86B leads the pack with a 6.0/10 rating and the lowest average annual energy cost at $106.72, while Samsung's The Frame Pro sits at the other end with a 4.0/10 rating and $162.98 annually. The average annual energy cost is calculated using the Standard Test, which assumes the TV is switched on for 10 hours per day - much longer than many households actually use their TVs.
HDR support: HDR capabilities vary across the lineup. All seven models support HDR formats, with HDR10+ featured on the Samsung and TCL models, while the TCL TVs, LG and Sony also support Dolby Vision. HDR can enhance contrast, colour and brightness, particularly in scenes with both very bright and dark areas.
Refresh rate: Refresh rates range from 50Hz to 144Hz. The Samsung models have refresh rates of 50Hz or 100Hz, while the TCL C7K, LG QNED86B and Sony BRAVIA 7 II offer 120Hz or higher. The TCL C6L's 144Hz refresh rate makes it particularly appealing to gamers, while 120Hz models are also well suited to fast-paced gaming and sports.
Design features: Like most modern TVs, the Mini LED models on this list have sleek, minimalist designs. The Samsung The Frame Pro stands out as the design showpiece, with its Art Mode, anti-reflection matte display and customisable bezels that give it the appearance of a framed artwork.
Warranty: Warranty coverage varies across the lineup. Samsung and Sony provide standard 1-year manufacturer warranties, while LG also offers a 1-year warranty. The TCL models come with a more generous 3-year manufacturer warranty.
Audio: Sound systems vary considerably across the lineup. The TCL C7K features Bang & Olufsen premium audio with 60W total power, while the C6L includes an ONKYO 2.1 Hi-Fi system at 40W. The Sony BRAVIA 7 II uses Acoustic Multi-Audio+ to position sound more closely with the action on screen. The quality of built-in TV audio varies, so whether you need a soundbar will depend on your expectations and room setup.
Operating system: Operating systems split between Samsung's Tizen Smart TV, LG's webOS 26 and Google TV in the TCL and Sony models. Each provides access to popular streaming services and smart features, with the choice often coming down to personal preference and your existing smart home ecosystem.
Gaming features: All models include HDMI 2.1 support, while gaming features vary. The TCL, LG and Sony models offer 120Hz or higher refresh rates and features such as VRR and ALLM for smoother gameplay and reduced input lag. Samsung's models offer their own gaming optimisations, although the M70H's 50Hz refresh rate makes it less suited to high-frame-rate gaming.
Price: For comparison purposes, prices relate to the 65-inch models of each TV on the list. Two models fall into the budget-friendly $ bracket (under $1,800), three sit in the mid-range $$ category ($1,800-$2,600) and two occupy the higher $$$ tier (over $2,600). It should be noted that higher-cost Mini LED TVs are available, and that these price brackets are relative only to the models on this list.
NOTE: The prices shown are according to Recommended Retail Price (RRP) September 2026, but Appliances Online sells Mini LED TVs at below RRP when possible, so just click the link for each model to see Appliances Online's current price.

As a 'lifestyle TV', The Frame Pro from Samsung is designed as much for aesthetics as entertainment. Its Art Mode with anti-reflection matte display transforms the screen into a digital gallery when off, displaying artwork or photos that look genuinely canvas-like from any viewing angle.
Customisable bezels, the Slim-Fit Wall Mount for flush installation, and wireless One Connect Box keep cables hidden. It shares the QN80's NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor and Vision AI technology for excellent picture quality when you interrupt its graceful gallery display to watch TV.
What customers say:
We have had this TV for a few weeks and we are delighted with it. It was easy to mount on the wall and the wireless aspect of the unit made it very easy to set up - no wires attached to the TV and it looks great on the wall displaying beautiful artwork. No matter the ambient lighting the picture looks great with no reflection from the screen. We hooked up a Samsung soundbar with just one optical cable and the 110v feed - very easy. We are still discovering features and we certainly give this TV 5 stars" - LoveourFrameTV, July 2026 (Originally posted on Samsung Canada)
