    A poor replacement for the previous model
    Unfortunately I should have read more reviews before I purchased this item, but Sunbeam are a major player in the this space and my previous model was also a Sunbeam. As other reviews have said, the blanket is actually a bit smaller than a queen sized mattress, why ? The mesh and the elastic around the edge feels much thinner and flimsier. The quilted part is thinner than the old one so you can feel the electrical connection much more. The bigger problems are with the operation: It takes longer to heat up than the previous model. It does not heat all the way to the bottom so you always get cold feet and toes. The controller takes time to "boot up" with spinning flashing lights. No other electric blanket I have ever seen does this. Why not just turn on ? The controller does not remember your previous setting unlike the previous model. Basically everything that has changed from the previous model makes it feel and operate like a cheap and nasty copy, not a quality Sunbeam product we have previously been able to buy. Why did you feel the need to change it ? Wish I had read the other reviews first :(

    Poor quality compared to the old version
    We bought an older version of this electric blanket several years ago and love it. We wanted an electric blanket for guests, so decided to get a new one for us and put the old one on the guest bed. Sadly the newer version is nowhere near as good and it will be going to the guest bed instead. The controls are chintzy and no longer remember the last setting used (and default to the hottest setting, which seems crazy), the cable from the blanket is much longer, so it is hard to reach while in bed, the padded quilting is thinner and the fabric is scratchy. I would have been happy to pay more to keep the same quality, but instead it's been value engineered to be an inferior product at the same price it was years ago.

    I'm a bit cool about this electric blanket
    There are many issues with this product that are unfortunate. It's an expensive product at nearly $300. That would be fine if it met expectations but it doesn't. Sorry Sunbeam but this product is really not very good at all. My first Sunbeam Queen blanket left my feet cold. It had 6 settings and a fancy controller but ultimately there was a large chunk of the bed that wasn't heated at all. From shoulder to knee was warmed but feet cold, neck cold. Some actuary probably made a saving on heating elements-bad. I hate cold feet. Then the controller flashed blue and that was the end of that electric blanket. I rang Sunbeam. Their service department was very good. All I had to do was pull the covers off my bed, photograph the Sunbeam label, photograph the Sunbeam electric plug and take a video of the electric blanket in fault. I did all that and got very fast swift service from both Sunbeam and Appliances online where I bought the blanket. A replacement blanket got to me in 24 hours from AO. Very impressive service. I looked forward to warmth. Alas, although my replacement electric blanket works my feet are still left cold. I find that incredibly negligent for an electric blanket. I am not the only person to make that comment. Unfortunately I read the reviews after purchase not before. Silly me. So there it is, my nights are partly warm but not wholly so. Don't allow your marriage to be ruined by trying to keep the electricity flowing with Sunbeam. Litigation seems inevitable for those cold soles-or is it souls? Oh misery, my electric blanket is lukewarm. First world problem? Probably. Recently bought a simple Jason electric blanket from Big W for our guest bedroom. $59. No fancy controller and only three settings but guess what.....it keeps the sleeper warm. I wish I could say something nice about the product but honestly..not happy, Jan.
