I bought this to replace an old 5.1 system. Sound quality is great, The subwoofer is very immersive and powerful, voices are very clear, but the surround sound doesn't really exist. The sound is wide but noticably from the front only. Although it sounded fantastic, the surround sound was a down grade from my old system. However with the optional 9500 rear speakers the surround sound is transformed. All the sounds coming from the rear that were previously missed are there. The sound is more immersive and feels like it's coming from all around. That's for music as well as movies. Atmos however still isnt great in my opinion. At best sound feels like it's coming from the top of the walls. Theres no optional ceiling speakers to improve. Also the qsymphony is hardly a symphony. Often it comes as an echo esp for higher pitched nose and voices. The sound isn't clean but sounds busy since the speakers aren't timed. Probably because tv sound has to come from behind the tv and takes longer to arrive. Only background sounds from battle/war scenes sound better or more powerful since it's just noise. Qsymphony also turns itself off after switching between modes. It's the biggest disappointment of the bar and I'd sooner just leave it off. The other disappoinment is use with Xbox. Sound delay with games when Xbox is connected to the tv. This can be solved by connecting the Xbox directly to the soundbar and the sound to the tv via HDMI. Still I had to select dtsx since Dolby Atmos seemed to miss a lot of sound or didn't play well. Overall with the rear speakers it's an excellent system and big improvement over my old 5.1 1000w system from 2007.

I never write a bad review but this is the worst piece of AV Equipment I have ever purchased. Ive gone through 2 of these in 2 weeks and both have had problems. First one had an issue with voice audio when in Atmos Mode. Voices came through really muffled to the point it was inaudible. Took it back to the store and picked up replacement today. So utterly disappointed that this one also has an issue straight out of the box. 2nd one is hissing l/static from the left speaker constantly in any mode. Have tried everything with keeping other devices away to avoid interference, resetting everything, updating firmware, different cables. Nothing has changed it so it’s back to return it to the shop again. This time I will get a refund. It’s not worth the hassle trying a 3rd one. Complete and utter rubbish for a high price, high spec soundbar. Come on Samsung how can you sell products that don’t work out of the box?

The sound coming out of this unit is monumental, particularly for watching films. The great thing is you don’t need to have the unit particularly loud to take advantage of the effects. I had an issue setting it up which turned out to be a bad hdmi cable at my end, Samsung support were really helpful in talking through the troubleshooting not least as it was made more complex as I wasn’t fitting it to Samsung TV. All in all, it’s an impressive and well made piece of kit and I’m looking forward to revisiting many of my favorite films with the full impact of the soundtrack.
