I bought this blue ray DVD player and when opened in a brand new box, it simply won't turn on, no power whatsoever, checked all possibilities by plugging in to different outlets but failed

Still new to the features, so far looking very good

I have this BP530 and an LG 3D TV. Display is nice, #D movies are awesome, plays discs just fine. Recently we started a Netflix subscription and were pretty happy with the Netflix app (Jan 2014). Basic interface, it was quick and displayed 4 rows, brief description of the currently selected item along with a small picture and a list of the actors in it. Early Feb 2014 the player prompted that there was an update available.so we accepted it. I thought it would be a firmware update that was required for updating what BD could be played, etc. But instead it has updated our Netflix app. It's now "Flashy", large graphics that load slowly and cover about 1/3 of the screen... same brief description + something new like a tag line. No actors list. It also only shows 2 rows of movies at a time because the large graphic is covering so much of the screen. Scrolling through the rows is unbearably slow. The purpose of the Netflix app is to search for and play a movie, not look at pretty pictures of the movie poster, etc. Speed is the most important factor! I called LG and there is no way to revert back to the previous version. And in the future when you see that there is an update, you will never know what it will affect as all is says is "going from version 1.2.3 to version 1.3.5." LG, Give us back a useful Netflix app!
