I wanted a grill big enough for two steaks of reasonable size, and used a temperature probe. While the dimensions are clear in the product description, I wasn't prepared for just how big the grill would look on the bench. I could easily cook six well sized steaks on this grill. Probably eight "Supermarket" sized steaks. It is heavy as well. I use the probe every time. The steak holds a lot more juices than when cooked under a gas grill. So far, cooking just one steak at a time, the drip tray has never received a drop. Wiping the plates with a damp sponge is all that has been required afterward. I think I would have preferred two ribbed plates. I am thinking about buying an extra flat and ribbed plate so that I can use two flat or two ribbed plates. So, if you want properly cooked steaks, get this grill.

I wasn't sure about spending so much money on an appliance that I didn't think would get much use, but I bit the bullet, bought my Smart Grill Pro and haven't looked back! It has saved me so much time when cooking meals, the probe makes sure our meats are cooked to perfection, our toasted sandwiches are amazing and even our grilled veggies are always perfect. Clean up is a breeze and I don't know why I hesitated in buying one.

I had previously purchased a George Foreman Grill with removable plates and was very disappointed as didn't cook meat well at all, particularly steak - turned out it was only 1600 watts.. After a lot of online research, I purchased the Breville Smart Grill Pro (2400 watts), and I love it!!! Heats up very quickly, cooks steak perfectly, and as it also cooks toasted sandwiches/rolls, bacon and eggs, and a lot of other things beautifully, I can now dispose of a few other appliances. Highly recommend this appliance, and I should have stuck with Breville in the first place. I have other Breville appliances which have never let me down.
