CADR Numbers Matter: Clean Air Delivery Rate tells you how fast the unit can clean air. Higher CADR = faster cleaning.
Filter Costs Add Up: Check replacement filter prices before buying. A $200 purifier with $80 filters every 6 months costs more long-term than a $400+ unit with cheaper filters or 5-year filters.
Noise Levels: Anything under 30dB is whisper-quiet, 30-50dB is acceptable for living areas, over 50dB might be too loud for bedrooms.
Smart Features: App control and air quality monitoring are genuinely useful, not just gimmicks. Being able to check air quality remotely and adjust settings can be really handy, especially if allergies are a big concern.

Rating: ⭐ 4.8 From 32 reviews
Coverage: Up to 156m²
CADR: 600 m³/h
Best for: Larger rooms thanks to its massive coverage, ultra-quiet operation, and genuinely smart automation make this the most complete air purifier on the list.
If you’re after the most powerful all-rounder this year, the Philips PureProtect Pro 4200 Series takes the top spot. This newcomer doesn’t just edge ahead - it sets a new benchmark for what a modern air purifier should be.
With a double-fan system delivering up to 1.5x more power, it can purify large open-plan spaces with ease, while still running whisper quiet at just 15dB . The 4-layer HEPA NanoProtect system captures 99.97% of particles down to 0.003 microns - that’s smaller than most airborne nasties.
Smart sensors constantly monitor your air and automatically adjust performance, while app control lets you track everything in real time.
Silver (AC4220-12) and Black (AC4221-11) models offer the exact same performance - just different finishes to suit your space.

Brand: Dyson
Back again for 2026, the Dyson HP1 Hot+Cool continues to earn its spot as one of the most versatile air purifiers on the market. It’s not just cleaning your air - it’s also heating in winter and cooling in summer, making it a true all-in-one solution for Aussie homes. The fully sealed HEPA H13 system captures 99.95% of particles as small as 0.1 microns, while the activated carbon layer tackles odours and gases, including VOCs.
Dyson’s clever Air Multiplier technology amplifies airflow up to 15 times, pushing out over 290 litres of purified air per second with 350° oscillation to circulate clean air across the whole room. Integrated sensors continuously monitor your environment and automatically adjust airflow to maintain air quality while conserving energy - purifying only when needed.
For light sleepers, Night Mode runs 50% quieter with a dimmed display, while the MyDyson app gives you full remote control via your phone or voice commands through Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri. And for those times you don’t want direct airflow, Diffused Mode purifies the air without the breeze.
Best for: Year-round comfort, smart home setups and anyone after premium all-in-one performance.
Typical Excellent Dyson Fan. We have enjoyed our Dyson TP7C Purifier Cool so much, that we decided to add this Purifier Hot + Cool. It's very good, and does what it says it will, though I had a little bit of difficulty with getting enough heat, but I seem to have conquered that, and now my office is warm, in that excellent way that Dyson fans deliver. I find the remote control to be of lesser quality than the one we received with our Purifier cool. The interface on the Hot+Cool app is not as pleasant as the Cool, but it does provide a lot of information, and I like that very much. For certain, Dyson fans are absolutely fantastic with low noise - just the most subtle whoosh. Love that. Overall, we are pleased with this purchase and would buy it again. - MHNY 13/04/2026

Brand: Shark
Back for 2026, and for good reason - the Shark NeverChange5 continues to be one of the most practical air purifiers you can buy. The Shark NeverChange5 captures 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 microns, including dust, allergens and pet dander. What really sets it apart is the HEPA filter, which lasts for up to five years - so there’s no need to remember to buy replacement filters every few months.
The Clean Sense IQ technology automatically adjusts performance based on air quality, while the unit operates whisper-quiet on its lowest setting-you literally won't know it's running. Perfect for large living areas or open-plan homes where you need serious coverage without the maintenance headaches.
Why it's our pick: Set-and-forget operation, massive room coverage and you'll save plenty of money on replacement filters over five years.
Great device! I bought this as we have dogs and cats and my partner has a bad chest. What a superb piece of equipment it proved. You can tell when it’s been turned off for any reason and really helps with partners breathing issues. The air freshener cartridge really smells nice and makes the house smell fresh. I also find it fascinating to watch the metre on it as the air improves lol - JenB. 25/01/2026

Brand: Winix
Don’t let the size fool you - this compact unit continues to punch well above its weight, and is just one of the reasons it makes the list in 2026. Its 4-stage filtration system uses a 360° All-In-One hospital-grade True HEPA filter that captures 99.97% of airborne particles, while the clever PlasmaWave technology neutralises viruses and bacteria without producing harmful ozone.
The built-in smart sensor constantly monitors air quality and automatically adjusts fan speed, so you can just set it and forget it. A colour-coded LED display gives you real-time feedback - blue for excellent, orange for moderate and red for poor air quality - so you always know what’s going on. Weighing just 3.1kg, it’s light enough to move from room to room with ease.
Best for: Bedrooms, home offices, apartments and anyone wanting hospital-grade filtration without the hefty price tag.

If you’re after a simple, affordable way to improve your home’s air quality, the Philips 600i Series is one of the easiest entry points into clean air. It’s compact, energy-efficient, and surprisingly capable for its size - making it ideal for smaller spaces where a full-sized unit would be overkill.
Despite its smaller footprint, it still delivers a solid 170 m³/h Clean Air Delivery Rate, meaning it can refresh a standard bedroom or living space in under 20 minutes . The two-layer NanoProtect HEPA system captures 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.003 microns, helping remove common irritants like dust, pollen and pet dander.
What really stands out here is how quietly and efficiently it runs. With noise levels as low as 19dB, it’s perfect for overnight use in bedrooms or nurseries, while consuming just 12W of power - so you can run it all day without worrying about your energy bill .
It also includes smart app connectivity via the Philips Air+ app, giving you the ability to monitor air quality and adjust settings remotely. In real-world terms, that means you can turn it on before you get home, or keep an eye on air quality during allergy season without constantly checking the unit.
Why it stands out: Compact, quiet, and energy-efficient - a great “set and forget” option.
Very good. This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very high tech connects to WiFi and has an app. Works well and is easy to use and set up. The design is simple and blends in with everyday objects so is not an eyesore. The size is small but also does take up a substantial amount of room but I have room so it’s fine.air flow is very efficient. Not very travel friends due to its size - IslaM 12/04/2026

Sitting right in that sweet spot between performance and value, the Winix Zero Plus 360 is a smart step up if you want stronger coverage without jumping into premium pricing. This newcomer brings full-room purification with a 360° air intake design, meaning it pulls in air from all directions to clean your space more evenly and efficiently.
At its core is a 5-stage filtration system, including a Hospital Grade True HEPA filter, activated carbon layer and Winix’s PlasmaWave technology, which helps neutralise airborne bacteria and viruses while reducing odours . In real-world use, that means it’s not just filtering dust - it’s actively improving the overall air quality across your home.
It’s also built for convenience. Smart sensors continuously monitor air quality and automatically adjust fan speed as conditions change, so you’re not constantly tweaking settings. The built-in app connectivity and WiFi control let you track and manage air quality remotely, which is especially handy during allergy season or when pets are indoors more often.
