This sweet treat has been a long time favourite of mine, and been a specialty of my mum’s for longer than I’ve been alive.

Biscuit Layer
1. Preheat Oven to 180°C.
2. Line a shallow baking tray (roughly 15cm x 15cm) with greaseproof baking paper.
3. Combine brown sugar, ground coconut, self raising flour and melted margarine in a bowl and thoroughly mix.
4. Place mixture into baking tray and ensure it is even and firmly layered in the bottom of the tray.
5. Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Filling Layer
1. Blend condensed milk, melted butter and golden syrup until combined.
2. Take out biscuit layer from the oven and evenly layer filling over the top.
3. Place back into the oven and bake for a further 15 minutes.
4. Remove from oven and allow to cool down to room temperature.

Icing Layer
1. Melt vegetable shortening over a low heat.
2. Mix in drinking chocolate until smooth.
3. Pour chocolate over the slice and place into the fridge until the chocolate is set.
