25 wonderfully weird novelty rangehoods

Appliance Talk Humour

It’s that time again – time for Appliances Online to take you through some of the most creative, imaginative, and… well, weird interpretations of a common household appliance.

We’ve previously covered toasters, washing machines and fridges – now it’s time for rangehoods.

wood range hood

While we may have found this rangehood over at The Concrete Cottage, it is most certainly not made of concrete.  False advertising I say, even if it does look amazing.

peeled back rangehood

You could make a rangehood like this at home simply by taking an ordinary rangehood and peeling away the outer layers in an artful fashion.  HINT – don’t do this, ever.

elica space

According to its manufacturer, the unusual circular design of this rangehood makes it one of the quietest in the world, meaning that its operation won’t disturb your house guests while they remark on how interesting the design is.

ridged rangehood

There tends to be two schools of thought when selecting a rangehood for the kitchen – making the rangehood subtly blend in with the rest of your kitchen design, or having it stand out as the centrepiece of the room.  This example is certainly one of the latter.

elica legend

While this rangehood would doubtless look very cool in your home, you might find it annoying to always be asked why you have an upside-down Stargate or Guardian of Forever in your kitchen.

box hanging rangehood

I wonder if the top of this rangehood could be used as impromptu kitchen storage shelf?  You’d probably want to reinforce those cables though.

french fleur de lis range hood

This rangehood isn’t so much a “novelty” as it is “amazing.”  Is that wrought iron?  It looks like it…  Are these guys literal blacksmiths?

telescopic rangehood

Apparently the telescopic design of this rangehood really retracts, allowing it to be as prominent or subtle in your kitchen design as required.

car rangehood

I REALLY hope that this actually is a novelty rangehood, and that someone hasn’t just had a rather spectacular accident with a classic car…

pink rangehood

Okay, there’s actually not very much unusual about this rangehood’s design (aside from its stylised cylindrical shape), but we like the colour scheme.  It’d go well in a kitchen alongside a matching retro-style SMEG fridge, for example.

flag rangehood

As cool as this rangehood paint job is, I hope that other flags are also available.  I’m sure that more than one nation would like to show their patriotism while keeping their kitchen free from grease and smoke.

invisible rangehood

In a complete reversal from some of the attention-grabbing rangehood designs seen thus far, this design (as shown by the arrows) keeps things extremely subtle while extracting and venting your kitchen gases.

knife range hood

Never forget the location of the nearest sharp thing again!  If they could make this rangehood out of a magnetic material, that would be perfect…

long pipe rangehood

Remember how your old maths teacher always taught you to “show your working” (come on, everyone’s did…)?  It seems that the designer of this rangehood took this lesson to heart, keeping the venting pipes (which are most often installed into the wall of the home) exposed for a more industrial look.

soup can rangehood

Who do you think is more likely to be the owner of this rangehood design?  A fan of pop art?  Or someone who just REALLY likes soup?

downdraft rangehood

With the lack of an actual “hood”, this design is actually more of an extractor system than a rangehood, but the idea of having your kitchen’s steam and smoke sucked DOWNWARDS has BLOWN MY MIND.

clock rangehood

What’s the time?  Time to cook!  And to do so in a smoke-free kitchen!

white glass rangehood

The white glass that makes up this rangehood design certainly looks great, but I imagine it would require a great deal of maintenance and cleaning to remain looking pristine.

k rangehood

I hope that the owner of this rangehood is named Keith.  Or Kirsten.  Or Kerrie.  Or maybe they’re a Colonel who is also the commanding officer of a rodent secret agent.

art rangehood

No room in for a piece of fine art in the rest of your house?  Just paint it onto the front of your kitchen’s designer rangehood!  Stylish, yet practical…

elica disco ball

This rangehood appears to be the crossbreed of a disco ball and a chandelier.  STYLISH PARTY IN THE KITCHEN!

joints rangehood

Mounted on a set of swivelling joints, this looks like the kind of rangehood that Inspector Gadget would deploy from his hat.

sphere rangehood

This rangehood is part and parcel of a self-contained kitchen pod… thing.  Reminds me of my last alien abduction.

clear rangehood

The workings of this rangehood design may look a bit like an upside-down cigarette lighter, but the clear perspex hood is the real drawcard.  Though this is another design that I imagine would be a pain to keep clean…

chrome sphere rangehood

And we’ll wrap up our collection with this design of rangehood, which reminds us a bit of some kind of chrome toffee apple.
