Appliance customers more clued up thanks to market research
May 8th, 2015
Independent research into the appliance market helps customers make more informed decisions, according to a web specialist.
Reviews by companies such as Canstar Blue rank products based on customer satisfaction levels, and display star ratings for attributes such as value for money, design and warranty.
And Patrick Fitzgerald, search and display specialist at Appliances Online, said the analysis provides added credibility around the appliances on the market.
“People do their own research before they come to us, whether online or in store,” he said.
“They are really well advised. They are looking for specific attributes and functions that are highlighted in the independent research.
“The results help inform people’s opinions on their options.”
The latest appliance report from Canstar Blue looked at clothes dryers, and found Fisher & Paykel came out on top, scoring the highest overall satisfaction value.
Electrolux dryers came in second with four stars, while LG also ranked well for drying time and feel of clothes.
And having been released just ahead of the last week’s news of a surge in dryer sales during prolonged wet spell suffered in Sydney, Patrick has no doubt this sort of research would have supported customers’ decision making.
“Rather than take the advice of the once person they happen to speak to at the time they are shopping, people use a variety of sources,” he said.
“We then support that by including things like customer reviews about the product on our site to help support that informed discussion.”
