    Good morning, Thank you for this question however your question is unable to be answered as none of the suppliers will provide a noise level as there are too many variations ranging from what type of flooring, the space in which the fridge will be placed etc. Of course, an upright would require to be defrosted more as when the door is opened the cold will drop out the bottom where this does not happen with a chest freezer. However, for ease of access to your food the upright freezer wins here the chest freezer would require you to remove all your items to get one thing out or even to rotate your goods.     frost free is different to manual defrost. The question is does frost build up when of full capacity freezing? It's really a question regarding how effective the freezer is? dave · 2019-04-24
    Good Afternoon, Thank you for this question, manual defrost has fixed shelf positions which has the gas tube and creates ice built up to freeze food, whereas frost free uses a fan that pushes air inside to free food therefore no need to be defrosted. Manual defrost models will need to be defrosted time to time this will depend on how often the door is being opened, generally every 6 - 12 months.
