I bought this blender mainly because I wanted to make nice creams and frozen smoothie bowls as my old blender didn't have the power but unfortunately this blender isn't great for this either. It has the power but the narrow container doesn't leave much space to keep the frozen ingredients going so it always gets jammed and then turns off for half hour because the motor gets overheated which by the time it can go again all your ingredient are melted. So now I only have it for smoothies and soups which my old cheap blender was perfectly fine doing anyway. What a nightmare and waste of money. Very disappointing

I bought my Vitamix for myself for Christmas. We drink kale and fruit shakes for breakfast. We were using a NutriBullet but the constant drink/chew/drink/chew was getting a little old. I wanted a Vitamix as I had heard they were much better for our purposes and did not realized a reconditioned one was an option. It is very simply one of the best purchases I've ever made.

After previously owning a full-size Vitamix 5200, I bought the S30 when I downsized to a smaller kitchen. Pros: The blender fits nicely and looks great on my counter, and the smaller size is perfect for making smoothies for one. I love that I can put it in the dishwasher. My old 5200 container needed constant scrubbing by hand yet still eventually looked cloudy and gross. Cons: My smoothies and soups are still smooth as ever, but as others have noted, it takes longer to blend ingredients. The extra seconds don't bother me, but I do need to take more effort to make sure no chunks were missed. The S30 easily pulverizes fibrous stems such as kale, but does struggle with frozen banana pieces. I now make a habit of poking around with the tamper to see if any pieces were left behind before pouring... so it's up to you how much this extra step annoys you.
