First, let me say that I have owned a series 5000 Vitamix since 2005, and I consider the Vitamix the best blender. At least for the engine. In March 2019, I replaced the original container, since after 14 years of usage it looked pretty old. After using the 'new' container for 4 years, and an average of 3 to 4 times a week, this morning I wanted to make an iced coffee. I added cold brew, a handful of ice, and a scoop of ice cream to the container, and turned the engine on low as usual. As I was increasing the blade speed, the container suddenly cracked sending liquid all over the kitchen. Luckily I jumped back, as a sharp-edge 2-inch plastic piece flew toward me. I am adding photos for better understanding. I cannot come up with an explanation, other than perhaps a small crack that I had not noticed? I have always taken good care of my Vitamix or else I wouldn't still have one that was purchased in 2005, and I have never washed my container in a dishwasher. What type of plastic quality are the recent containers made of? This was incredibly disappointing.

The container exploded and plastic/glass shard hit my ribs. Seems like others have had the same issues where the container exploded at the same spot

I bought my Vitamix around 2006 and the blender still works great. However, I have had issues with the containers. Around 4 or 5 years ago, the container started leaking and I got it replaced. More recently, the replacement container cracked while in use. I am pretty careful with how I use the blender so it was suprising that it broke.
