I had a Vax for 20+ years. It went very well and did everything well until the motor burned out. So, I bought another one 1.5 years ago - the 'SpinScrub Pet' (see pic). It looks similar to my old one. Both are orange (not red), but the new motor is a little more powerful (1500W), the attachment heads are different and the quality of the attachment plastic is not quite as good. Until today we'd just used the new one as a vacuum cleaner - it performed well, with no problems except the crevice tool is too short (the older one was 2x longer). Today I needed to do some carpet shampooing for the first time. For this it has the 'SpinScrub Wash Head' (see pic). This head is absolutely useless! Basically the manual says attach the head and solution tube, drop the feed tube into the water, pull the head switch back, then hit the power and pump buttons to begin the water flowing and the brushes rotating. Well, the water barely dribbles out and I can't believe that tiny solution tube could supply enough pressure to rotate 5 rather stiff brushes. They never moved! I tried using it as is, but it just spread a dribble of water across the carpet surface with the stationary brushes smearing it about a little - useless! It left a few puddles while I briefly checked the manual, connections and switches. I then flicked the head switch forward to suck up the puddle and smear water and nothing happened - like, NOTHING! NO water was sucked up at all. The design makes it hard to put downward pressure on the head to create any water suction too. My old model had a much simpler head with no brushes or moving parts and no need for a pump. It sprayed water down under vacuum and picked it up in one sweep (like commercial heads), collecting a lot of dirt as it went. It was brilliant and far cheaper to manufacture! Fortunately I still had the old machine's attachments, so I connected them all to the new machine and hey presto, I was carpet shampooing again! The new shampoo head is far too complicated and 'unfit for purpose'. I WILL be looking into what I can do, including the consumer law. It's still within warranty, but unfortunately I've lost the receipt. OK, it could be malfunctioning, but if the actual design is 'unfit for purpose', surely this is a bigger issue than warranty. If nothing can be done, I'll have to continue with my 20+ y.o. head on the new machine. Really disappointing.

i love my new Vax 66000, I have had it a month. This is my 4th Vax

I own 2 huskies so any vacuum is going to have to work hard. The Pet Vax is doing a great job. Very happy :)
