Just tested it out with boiled ehgs and was initially excited that it boiled so quickly. A tick for that. Couldn’t work out how to turn the heat down though, eggs were rattling, water was boiling furiously, I was cursing the manual for implying that the +/- button would adjust the heat. Worked out by trial and error that you can’t adjust the temperature on the boil function. You can adjust the time, though not to less than 5 minutes. You can adjust the “power” on the fry, stir fry and hotpot functions. I wish the manual could have been specific about this. This is why I’ve knocked a star off. I wish modern companies would learn that an excellent product can be let down by poor instructions.

This product is almost completely useless. It focuses the heat in the center of the the hotplate only, not all the way to the edge of the circle causing burning on the bottom of your pan, even at lower temps. As a result the heat does not go to the edge of the pan creating a heat dead zone where nothing cooks. I have found that this item is only good for soft boiled eggs or steaming veg, heating baked beans. it is no good for actual cooking, or browning/searing. The FRY setting is either too hot, or too cold to sear evenly. And the cyclic nature of the heating means that that there are periods of inactivity in the pan where nothing is cooking. I have used this product for four years and stopped cooking some dishes. I have since purchased a Durapres Inducto Go portable cooktop. It is far superior than this Tefal product.

Bought this 6 months ago to use when caravanning, very, very unhappy. Cooktop ‘surges’ its power and that is why generated heat is unstable and it boils, cuts out, boils cuts out repeat. Impossible for this cooktop to maintain a constant temperature, thereby very hard to cook with. Have found another brand that does'nt surge and thrown Tefal away.
