Despite the relatively expensive price, I bought this kettle keeping the Sunbeam name in mind but, a little after the expiry of the warranty period, faults started to develop. Firstly, it started to beep frequently even before full boil, secondly, the lid gets jammed quite regularly and has to be opened by using a finger and, thirdly, in the last couple of days the lid has started to pop up on full boil, which is most dangerous as the boiling water can scald one's face or body if one is standing close to the kettle. Unfortunately for me, these faults have developed after the expiry of the warranty period but while buying a Sunbeam one expects the product to last well beyond the warranty period. I have owned other brands which have lasted for years but this kettle has disappointed.

I I bought this kettle with the matching toaster because I liked the look and they suited our kitchen. The kettle worked well for about 3 years and then the lid broke, a common problem it seems. Becuase I liked the kettle, I decided to buy another one,which I did. It lasted for about 2 years and then the base started making numerous beep noises as it approached the selected temperature. I clean the base and bottom of the kettle to make sure that there was good contact to no avail. It lasted a little longer and then fused out. I am terrible disappointed with the quality of this product. When it worked, it worked well but unfortunately not for long enough.
