A month over the warranty period and the lid and the handle came apart! Luckily no one got burnt after I picked up the full kettle of boiling water! Just missed my hand! Extremely dangerous product.

I am using it for last one and years without any problems. Recently I found black plastic pieces in the boiled water. With great difficulty the lid can be closed but the lid opens itself while boiling. Now I am filling the kettle through the spout. Still at times lid opens up during boiling.

I have had this kettle now for going on 4 years and love it. I have never had any issues with it or the plastic hinge. My only comment to Sunbeam would be the words telling you what temp. for what wears off after a while so you forget what is what! Apart from that it has been a great kettle. Putting this one up the coast in our apartment and just about to buy my new one!
