Big fan of awesome Aussie designer Marc Newson, so was a major disappointment to find that this (pretty expensive) kettle that looks stunning has a significant design flaw... the lid is really hard to get off. I mean you sorta gotta yank it off and even that’s not east. At first I thought it was just my elderly parents bless them, but no It wasn’t. And the matching toaster which also looks amazing and features a really cool lift off crumb tray has its own big fail factor, the same as toasters all over the planet... it doesn’t toast evenly on both sides. Arrggghhhhh!! It’s all good though, I’ve told the olds to put their two Marc Newson appliances in the display case alongside the Royal Albert tea set and the special glassware, coz like I say they look fabulous. As far a functional toaster and kettle that we can actually use for tea and toast, well I will just have to keep searching, and not be distracted by the lure of iconic designers.
