This kettle is very quiet and the lid is easy to open. We are very happy with purchase.

We have been users of Sunbeam Products for our lifetime! 5 - 6 years ago we researched the "quietest electric kettle" available and bought the Sunbeam Cafe Model and were completely satisfied with this product ...it met all our expectations; the most important being the speed and quietness of boiling water. (Living in an apartment/villa necessitating these points.) A few months ago it started to leak and problems opening the lid to fill the kettle indicated the need to replace it. We searched locally (for a RED kettle to match our Sunbeam Toaster) but could not find one ...hence the search online and the purchase of this current model. The metallic taste of the water has been a major factor since using it. At first we thought it was our coffee and even phoned the company to question the quality of the tin of coffee we had opened. Discarding one time and opening another did not solve the problem. We had followed all the recommendations in the accompanying brochure but to no avail ...the metallic taste persisted. We phoned the Sunbeam information line and the staff member was very unsympathetic to our complaint and in fact even suggested conflicting information to the brochure. The only way we have found to make some difference to the unpleasant taste is to empty the kettle and boil fresh water every time it is used. (This means wasting water.) I think we may hesitate before buying another Sunbeam kettle.
