Overall good machine, price, operation and output all OK

We've now had 2 of these grinders, the first stopped grinding and no cleaning out of the burr grinder fixed it. That was about 9 months after I bought it. The second one had the outlet cover in the grinder break and it now won't grind properly at all. It's literally sat on my bench top, I don't understand how this part has broken, other than simple poor design. Sprays grind everywhere too..

Received as a gift from very generous friends. This machine grinds brilliantly from powder to course. Unfortunately though the fine grounds for espresso get caught at the exit point before they enter the shute. This results in an accumulation of grounds which remain there after the final use for the day, leaving them to go stale in the interim. It also means you get a mixture of ground size if you change the grind setting in between uses. eg I use a grind 6 for the double shot basket; & grind 10 for the single shot basket. The instructions state you can tap the top to release the caught grounds. I find I need to slap the back, sides & then top to properly release the accumulated grounds. This should not be necessary. Poor design / design fault. Other than that it's a reasonable value machine - fast but loud - does the job. (For the benefit of the reviewers who claim they can't adjust the grain size or it's too course - the basket is probably incorrectly placed. Try turning it 180 degrees.)
