The Ultimate in Bass Party Speakers
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Remember when party speakers were about the size and weight of a house brick? Well, the new Sony ULT Tower 7 is like that, but taken to infinity! This speaker is just enormous, and reassuringly heavy too, with suitable handles and rear castor wheels to allow easy movement from room to room or outdoors. And, if you’re wondering what room space this would fill, I’m suggesting no house, garage or garden will be too big for the pleasingly enormous 420W max power output and 360 degree sound of this powerhouse of a speaker. Clearly, the whole design is focussed on sound quality and particularly bass output, with the 280mm woofer delivering the most incredible body thumping bass at high volume levels, fully supported by an array of mid-range units and tweeters. Couple this with inbuilt adjustable LED party lighting and a host of pro level XLR in & out, USB-A, USB-C, RCA and ¼”mic connections to suit almost any situation, including DJ, karaoke and linking with other Sony ULT Speakers, the true versatility of this device becomes apparent. I found many functions can be suitably controlled and adjusted via the user friendly Sony Sound Connect App on my smartphone, including the 10 band equaliser, 4 sound modes and 3 dynamic lighting modes (which are fairly subtle). The very obvious front of cabinet ULT button allows for direct adjustment of volume (just turn it) and, when pressed, will select the preferred bass mode to suit the occasion: Deep bass boost, Powerful bass boost or Neutral sound. For Karaoke you can adjust microphone volume, echo, and key using the controls on the back of the cabinet to suit singer (I’m such a bad singer!) and song. Additional features are also available on the Sound Connect app. If, like me you love the home cinema experience with full background bass, then place the Tower at the back of the room for best effect, connect via Bluetooth and just sit back to enjoy the film with every thump and thud of the original soundtrack. Battery life, providing up to 30 hours playback, and IPX4 water resistance also make the Tower suitable for extended outdoor use when required for those wonderful summer parties… (remember to invite the neighbours!). This is a very impressive large party speaker that I have really enjoyed using in so many ways. It has a versatility and connectivity that makes it suitable for so many situations where both Ultimate bass power and real sound quality are required. It definitely looks the part too!!

Sony ULT 7 - Fantastic speaker!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First impressions out of the box, this is a very sturdy and well made piece of audio equipment. It is quite heavy at just under 23kg, about the same as an airline baggage allowance, but not surprising given there are seven speakers and a rechargeable battery included, but it really does have the feeling of a very well made product. It has a nice simple three button layout on top, Power on/off, Bluetooth and Play/Pause, easy to remember and operate in low light. There are more buttons neatly placed under a protective flap on the rear of the unit. There is also a large round ULT button, on the top left corner of the front panel. This controls the sound output modes of Bass, Extra Bass, Live and Pure/Flat sound from the source, by sequentially pressing it. The only slight negative is there is no indication of what sound mode you are currently in apart from the button light off meaning Flat. Although this can be seen in the Sony Sound Connect app. The knurled dial around the edge of the button controls the volume. I like this design as it is very tactile and quick and easy to find and operate, again especially in a darkened room, Sony have clearly thought about this. Further sound tweaks can again be made via the eq settings in the Sound Connect app, amongst many other options for lights and sound effects. I like the strong bar handles built into the top, these along with the little wheels on the rear edge make it very easy to carry and manoeuvre. The sound is absolutely amazing! Such deep bass with sharp higher tones and very clear vocals it is seriously impressive. I've used party speakers before but this unit is on another level. It has an excellent array of connection inputs, all that you could need and the fact that you can charge phones from the battery is a very useful feature. As is the IPX4 water protection in case of party spillages or unexpected rain showers if using outdoors. The bright coloured lights that sync with the music are what make it fun and create that party atmosphere. Overall this is a top quality, easy to use, great sounding party speaker that is great value for the money. I would highly recommend it.

    Large speaker that performs
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Sony ULT Tower 7 is basically a big, loud, bass‑happy party machine. The ULT button has 3 different sound modes ULT1 enhances the deeper low-pass range, ULT2 that has a sense of increased power, and flat which keeps it true to the original sound. It’s got great features you’d expect: Bluetooth, USB‑C for direct audio from your phone or PC, USB‑A for music drives, multiple line inputs, mic input for karaoke, and even lighting effects if you want the room to look as lively as it sounds. You can even connect multiple speakers for more if you want more. It’s chunky but it’s built solid and meant to fill a room. If you want something that’s simple to use, hits hard, and has enough inputs to handle whatever you throw at it, it definitely delivers
