Great sound bar! Good sound compact no extra subwoofer boxes and wires makes a great stand for a TV works great with Sony TVs. Would give 5 stars if you could sync TV and Soundbar volume.

I'd buy a Sony TV again but not this.....
I have two Sony TV's. One from 2012 and one from 2015. Both great TV's, especially the newer one. I decided to buy a HT-XT1 sound base to use on the newer one. Unfortunately I couldn't find a store I could listen to one before I purchased but read a few reviews on line that seemed quite positive. +ve's Looks good. Is discrete. Lots of connection options & integrates well with Sony TV via ARC. Once set up & listening preferences set up, you don't really need the supplied remote. -ve's One very very big problem. Sound quality is a marginal improvement over the TV. Bass is almost non-existent unless you increase bass setting to maximum. I tried on both TV's and I am highly disappointed. It sound different to the TV but not much better.

    Class with glass!
The HT-XT1 was a welcome surprise. I spent a lot of time online prior and was still dubious how a unit with a glass top would carry the weight of a TV. It does. My KDL-HX800 size nicely balanced on top of the unit. So a TV weight 30kg or less with a 55 inch screen or smaller will sit nicely. Just make sure it’s legs are central Like the W800 series. The colour blends in well with my black TV. Whilst sound reproduction always depends on the source, the Clear Audio and auto switching depending on source gives a pretty decent sound field even in a large lounge such as ours. It a more enclosed space like a playroom or small flat I think the 2.1 and synthesised surround will be more obvious. Though Blu-ray movies and games via the PlayStation 3 had some amazing depth of field. The warmth of the base via the rear sub-woofer really surprised me, however Sony seems to m=have made a decent effort in it’s high end compact speakers of late. After the SRS-X3 I’ve heard it shouldn't have surprised me!! As the volume increases, so does the quality of sound and depth of field. So you can do well with movies. I was a little disappointed with those fields that enhance speech at low volume and night mode seems to lose the stereo effect, but the subtle base does make up for it. Again it’s source dependent. Connections are a breeze via HDMI and you must select them via the mini remote if you HDMI connect them via the rear, but don’t despair, if kept all your TV connections the unit will still just pump out the sound from the main TV connection. If you have a Sony TV, powering off the TV will also shut down soundbar. Same for turning on the TV, however the delay whilst the TV confirms (and recognises!!) the external speakers is a little annoying. It does have analogue and optical inputs so that old device, even a mini-disc player could be hooked up! It would be great to have an audio out for a sub-woofer though- then it would be a perfect score for me. Aesthetically great, especially the little white light on the front. Makes me feel like I have a newer TV! It does take up a bit of real estate on the TV cabinet if you have other components, but if it was your only sound equipment in say a games or rumpus room it is perfectly sized. the build quality is pretty good, but some of the glass line up at the rear on this model could have been a bit more flush against the body. only a picky soul like me would notice. Overall, very impressed. Definitely recommended.
