After a full year of absolutely wonderful sound from my subwoofer, one day it just stopped working and wouldn’t go back on again. The sub was off when I was at work, come home in the evening to turn it on and it just wouldn’t go on! Yeah here was no power trip or any visible physical damage. It just wouldn’t power on. Trued other power outlets around the house that had other functioning devices but it absolutely wouldn’t turn on! It’s gone completely useless. The soundbar’s still on and functioning as usual but the sub died just like that. Such a disappointment since it worked so well. Tried to google about the exact model and found similar reviews online from people who got the same problem with this HT-CT290/291 model. What a shame SONY! What a big shame. Beware of buying this model, it’ll just sleep on you one day when it’s had enough!

Have seen its not survived its warranty in many cases, Sub Woofer will die after warranty period and Sony Flee from its warranty to repair for free

Overall, the sound is good and crisp as how I like it however the subwoofer is very disappointing. The subwoofer is way too weak even though it’s on max volume level. It’s a fairly large and decent size subwoofer but doesn’t deliver the punch as it looks, worse than my small Sony portable Bluetooth speaker. I’m a Sony loyalist and very unfortunate to say this, I’ll be returning this and exchange for another brand.
