    This HT-S400 sound bar was released in 2022 and purchased by me on 01/11/25 after lots of reading, researching, comparing and viewing most available products. PRO: Small size of sound bar for confined spaces; wireless sub-woofer; adequate sound from 2x100W sound bar and 130W sub-woofer speakers; adjustable bass volume; connects via eARC or optical cable; well designed; able to turn off display lights on sound bar; able to play music through speakers with a paired Bluetooth device; and can pair up to nine Bluetooth devices; remote control for power, input, sound field, voice mode, night mode, mute, volume and bass levels; comprehensive operating instructions (can be downloaded and read before purchase). CON: Two channel only sound; no Dolby Atmos; no sound output jack; echo if both TV and sound bar speakers are active; need two power outlets (one for sound bar and one for sub-woofer). NOTES: Unfortunately my Sony Bravia XR-65A 80K can only have one sound output at a time, therefore if you connect e.g. wireless head phones (for individual volume control) all other speakers are disabled. Connecting via eARC transfers the sound output to the sound bar speakers and allows full control with Sony TV remote (turn on/off, volume). However when connected with the optical cable you can also use wireless head phones for individual volume levels (main reason for purchase). There is a template for positioning the mounting screws of the sound bar however it would be nice if the outline of the sound bar was printed on the template to enable accurate placement for height and clearance from fixed objects after final installation.

    I was hoping for a good sound from my first soundbar and I’m amazed at just how good the sound quality actually is. Easy to set up, looks great on the wall and the powerful sound produced is clear and balanced. The convenience of a wireless subwoofer with deep rounded bass completes the package.
