    Makes ironing quicker and easier
Having had my (very old) ironing board totally collapse recently, I realised how far some ironing boards have come in recent years when I found the Easy 8! The height options are great for both me and my husband, and the extra wide board makes it easier to iron more in one go. This kind of large board is a must-have if you have a steam generator in my opinion as it means you can have the iron base on the board rather than on the floor, which I prefer. My husband says the 'wings' make it much easier to iron shirts...although good tip - pull the shirt taut so you don't get a crease from where the wing meets the main board. And they tuck away easily when not needed. Love the wire holder thing, stops the kitten being able to play with the wire while we iron! The hanging rack is handy too, so we don't have to hang clothes all around the room while we iron. Just has some great, simple features that make this chore finish faster -must be good!

    Triumph of marketing over functionality
I think a marketeer came up with the name "Easy 8" and then designers scratched around to find eight selling points but failed miserably. I've yet to find a shirt which fits neatly over the wings - if you do, you'll find the gap between the wings and the body of the board leaves an un-ironed stripe and you have to reposition the shirt to iron over it. I decided early on not to use the wings but they don't stay clipped back and foul the positioning of clothes over the basic board. The shirt hanger is fine if you are going to use the board at full height - otherwise the shirts drag on the ground. The cord of the iron does not flow back freely through the guide so again I discarded it. However, the gap between the tray at the back and the body of the board is large enough to catch the cord annoyingly. The idea of a pouch to hold the remote control is just banal. The deep treads on the feet, coupled with the unnecessarily excessive weight, leave deep marks in the carpet pile, but because the feet are made of hard plastic instead of rubber it is difficult to put the board up and down on hard floors without it sliding. Philips should stick to what it's good at - designing electrical products.

    Lousy Quality Control
Just bought the Iron GC9682 and came with an ironing board (GC240/25). First time iron, keep hitting a "bump". After ironing 2 shirts, the ironing cloth has a small hole. Checked under the ironing cloth, found a lump of weld material that is causing the iron to hit when ironing. Surprised with such a manufacturing and quality control lapse with Philips.
