I got these for Christmas a good 5 or so years back and at first they worked perfectly but one day they stopped working entirely? I plug it in to charge and it doesn’t charge AT ALL no matter how long I charge it for so I can’t use them and haven’t been able to use them for 4 years…

I was given these RP-HTX80B Headphones FOC by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer program. These headphones come in a choice of 4 colours and I received the red version, which is more of a classic burgundy than your vibrant red, which I prefer with its retro styling. The product comes well packaged although I would like to see a clear viewing window or flap on the front of the box so you can get a true representation of the colour and style. These bluetooth headphones have that classic retro styling & are virtually identical to my aging pair of RP-HTX7, so the comparison in sound quality would be interesting. These headphones are lightweight weighing only 180g and with their soft padded ear cups and adjustable overhead band are comfortable to wear even for long periods of time. They also block out a lot of outside noise even without anything playing through them & there is also very little sound leakage. The headphones are easy to use with all the controls and charging port on the right hand side ear cup. Charging is achieved via a micro USB cable (Supplied). Setting up to is also simple, press & hold the power on button until the LED flashes red/blue and then pair with your smartphone, tablet or bluetooth enabled device, once that is done you're up and ready to listen wirelessly to your devices content. I would have liked to have seen a wired option via 3.5mm jack so I could use these headphones with some older equipment like my ipod and hifi system or if i forget to charge them. I listen to a wide variety of music, from rock to classical & jazz to pop and I found these headphones coped very well with everything, they have a nice weighted bass for the rock music, picked out all the detail from the classical tunes & have a good sound range for pop & jazz, which doesn't distort across the sound range/volume. I did find these to be lacking when I connected them to my TV to watch a movie as I found they weren't as immersive as my RF headphones.

I'm a big fan of both music and audio gear, so it was an absolute pleasure to receive a pair of these new RP-HTX80B Bluetooth headphones as part of the Panasonic Reviewer program. They came nicely presented in a simple yet classy box, along with the instructions and a USB charging cable. They needed charging before I could use them: A full charge took just over 3 hours but gave me something like 20 hours of playback. It's nice to know that you can also get a couple of hours out of a 15 minute quick charge if you can't hang around. Bluetooth was really easy to connect to and I've experienced no interference or drop outs. There's no option to use a cable if you don't want to use Bluetooth. Theses headphones feel very well made, but at less than 190g they still manage to feel really lightweight. The design is very striking. I have the Red 80BE-R model which are an attractive plum / burgundy colour. They look like they came from the time of turntables and hi-fi separates, which of course is right back in fashion again. When it comes to how they sound, Panasonic have gone for a very balanced sound with a nice large sound-stage. Music sounds bright and detailed with a pleasant surround sound quality. Bass is nice and full, but it knows its place. It's not overbearing and it doesn't try to dominate the mids and highs like some headphones I've listened to recently. I'm sat typing out this review listening to some Rag'n'Bone Man and there's plenty of grunt where it's needed - like in the rumbling menace of a track like Guilty or Wolves - but there's also detail in the acoustic guitar and harmonica work of mellower tracks like High Heeled Sneakers. I usually wear headphone whilst I'm working on my computer and these are light and comfortable enough to listen to all day, and they handle a variety of music styles well. Because they're wireless I can move around freely and the built in mic means I can pick up calls on my mobile and get back to work quickly.
