We bought this to put in the bedroom. We have owned a Panasonic DMR-BWT720 for two years and based on our experience with that machine, we bought this one. We have not been disappointed. This machine is some £200 cheaper as it does not have on-board WiFi (why not?), it has a smaller disk and does not burn BluRays. But it is excellent value for money as it does 90% of what we need. Great machine, good tuners, cannot understand what "Alfie" below is complaining about, this is easily the best in its class and deserves the awards it gets.

Unable to download a recorded program to usb stick, which I could then view on my pc, I was able to do this with my previous unit (sagem), very frustrating. May be a software update could solve this ?

We haven't had it very long but so far it seems to be working very well - it's easy to use and obviously even better than our previous Panasonic HDD recorder.
