For a well known and reputable brand, you would expect the product to last longer than the warranty period, however, for this kettle, the lid started to malfunction about 1 and half years after purchase but was working. About 2 and half years later, the lid stopped opening altogether and when I contacted the warranty service, I was told that nothing can be done as the item is out of warranty. This product has had so many customers report a fault with the lid and handle and I would have expected that the Kitchenaid team would have looked at this and reconsidered their warranty for this item. There is a lot that such a reputable company can learn about quality and service especially when cheaper brands can offer the same and if not better quality for a cheaper price.

The replacement stopped working after a while due to a connector that wasn't seated properly. Sometimes the display shows something unexpected.
