    Worst thing I have ever bought. Controls are so terrible that the whole time I've had this I've only pressed the 30 second microwave button. And when we actually decided to try and use other functions, the swipe control circle thinggy doesn't respond so you can't actually access anything. it's absolutely useless.

Therefore, it is likely that your builder will need to modify the cabinet in order to make the new model fit into this space. The best course of action would be to choose the microwave that best suits your needs and then have a discussion with your builder regarding the necessary modifications to the cupboard.
