Garmin has specified for your particular unit the battery will require replacing roughly every 12 months.

With that in mind, they have also advised that there is a USB Hand-Stick (model #010-01058-00) which can be purchased through Garmin for $59. This device links your Vivofit with your computer and allows them to channel information.
Another alternative is to install the Garmin Connect Mobile App which can be used to pair/sync your mobile to your Vivofit.
