I like the machine. Only have had it a few days. When assembling, take care as I split my finger because the first time i used it the machine made a crazy noise and i thought the filter was not installed. When I investigated, the base flipped back, pinched my finger and left me with split skin, a bruised finger and trepidation. My philosophy:less is me. For Dyson: more information is better!

Awesome cleaner. Empties easily. Hard to push forward on very short nap carpets. No height override, hence tends to eat throw rugs that are on top of the wall to wall carpet.

My mother and mother-in-law both have a Dyson. They are different models, but I've used both. I liked them, so I decided to buy one for myself. Of course it would be that I, with all the bad luck in the family, would end up with a horrible product. I bought this vacuum less than a year ago. From the moment I put it together it made this terrible grinding/racheting noise that scared me to death! The noise doesn't occur all of the time, but when I bump into objects or ever-so-slightly touch the wall, the noise will start up. Also, if I attempt to clean carpet that is remotely thick in consistently (bathroom rug), the noise will start up. It has also eaten the carpet. I have read and reread the manual in order to figure out what the problem is and I have cleaned it several times to no avail. I have yet to contact customer service and I'm not really sure if it's worth it since I have heard that their service is so poor. Moreover, the hose is awkward and the machine itself is heavy. My wrist hurts after I vacuum for a while and I am not a weakling. In addition, if you want to vacuum the tile in your kitchen, don't count on getting under the cabinets, the head of the vacuum is too think to fit.
