I had my previous Dyson for 9 years - it was great. This new 'allergy' one defeats the purpose as it is so messy and awkward to clean out properly. The hose is also quite short. Whoever designed this obviously has not used it on a regular basis. I find myself going over areas with my small hand held Dyson and still get stuff.

Had previous Dyson dc8 and was very impressed, so when it came time for new one I didn't hesitate on new Dyson. Upon selection I found it to be very confusing as all barrels are the same and the type of head determined whether it was multi- floor or allergy and so on. But as the price increases from multi-floor you assume your going to get more superior clean with these heads but you don't. And upon paying extra money for the vacuum head from base model you should be getting the base model heads as well which you don't. Overall no happy with current dc54 allergy as the one head is not versatile enough for everyday use on hard floor and carpet.

Purchased this vacuum today works well I was a bit surprised it doesn't have a stronger suction to be completely honest but I was use to one that weighed a ton & lifted the carpet with the turbo head. I think it could be Improved with a longer cord I had to use an extension rather than plugging it in each room of my house. And a slightly longer handle apart from that it's a great vac lets see if it's worth is price. With four kids lots of sand, dirt & crumbs we'll see.
