    Overview

    The Breville Searing Slow Cooker is a multifunctional slow cooker with steam and yoghurt settings. Sear and slow cook conveniently in the same pan without the need for your stovetop, and enjoy deliciously intensified flavours.

    There are five preset browning settings to seal in the flavour and caramelise your ingredients to just the right level. The unit comes with a premium stainless steel steaming tray for your roasts and to steam large portions of dumplings, fish, or vegetables. The dual locking handles securely seal the lid onto the bowl to ensure moisture levels and temperatures are maintained while cooking. The bowl is non-stick to make for simple serving and effortless cleaning.

    With the keep warm function, once your meal is ready it can automatically keep your dish warm until you’re ready to eat. This slow cooker can also make yoghurt - up to 3 litres of soft and creamy natural or flavoured.

    Not a great appliance
    I don’t mind Breville appliances generally — I own a few — but this one was disappointing. The searing function and larger capacity were big selling points for me, but unfortunately it just doesn’t get hot enough to deliver. Cooking lamb on the bone took significantly longer than expected and never reached that proper “fall off the bone” result you’d want from a slow cooker. The searing function is also underwhelming and doesn’t perform nearly as well as it should. In hindsight, it feels like one of those appliances trying to do two things and not doing either particularly well. You’re better off with a simpler slow cooker that focuses on doing one job properly — and there are cheaper options out there that outperform this.

    All or Nothing Cooker
    We bought this unit 5 months ago to replace a similar Sunbeam product that had worn out. On paper this Breville product looks amazing, but in the kitchen it is hopeless. We could not get the thing to slow cook - it just wanted to sear everything on every setting other than the low setting where it didn't do anything. Obviously there is a problem with the thermostat or the touch panel. Very disappointed.

    Non stick surface degrades within first few months
    Don't buy this slow cooker. The non stick surface will degrade and Breville will tell you that its normal wear and tear. I spoke to multiple people who had the predecessor to this machine and we all had the same experience.
