Works well on the boil

I was satisfied with this kettle at first and even brought one for a friend. It boiled water quickly, and I appreciate that there are less plastic components exposed to boiling water. Unfortunately, the lid mechanism failed and the lid no longer opens. The shutoff button has also become unreliable, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. Similar problems appear in many other reviews, and replacement parts are not available. I hope Breville improves the design and durability of the kettle. A kettle at this price should last longer under normal use.

I found that the electrical cord length of just 12 inches is not long enough to allow the kettle to clear my overhead cupboards. This allows the steam to collect under my cupboard. It will damage my wooden cabinetry.
