I was so excited about getting this product! I had just bought my first house and had racked up enough flybuys to get this toaster and the matching jug. Loved the Olive Tapenade colour (which appears to no longer be available). When I took them out of their boxes, they were so beautiful. Everything about them felt like quality and I understood the pricetag. And then I used the toaster. Almost impossible to get a tan on a piece of bread. To achieve a bit of colour you have to wait for the bread to be completely dehydrated first. Usually I check 1 star reviews first so I must have been blinded by the love of the look because there are so many reviews stating this exact problem. The 5 star reviews must be those who haven't actually used it yet so are reviewing based on the look and feel of the product. Either that or Breville's quality assurance person has been sleeping on the job because there appears to be a number of duds hitting the shelves. So disappointed as I love the appearance of these products, especially the colour. The jug gets 5/5 though!

I have always purchased Breville, simply because the Brand has always lasted ,and given no trouble. My last toaster was a Breville Ergo, and after at least ten years of daily service it is still going, but I thought it deserved a well-earned retirement. As I couldn't replace this model I purchased the Toast Select Luxe, and so far it is exceeding expectations. All the controls do what they are supposed to do, and very efficiently. Ask me again in ten years,if it was worth the cost,and if it lasted like the Ergo-Who knows?

Great toaster my toast is really good. Though can take a couple of times to push down the start button.
