The washing machine worked well, then one month out of warranty it broke. The concrete block and plastic housing cracked rendering it useless. I contacted appliances online and never received any response. I would not recommend this brand nor appliances online in future.

I purchased my Gorenje 8kg front loading washing machine as soon as I saw it was bright red! Well, not exactly, but almost. I love colour in my home and I’m just a little sick of white ‘whitegoods’. The price was reduced from $1200 to $700, around a 40% saving, which was marvellous in my book. I had had an amazing ASKO 10505 for 19 years and so was scouring the internet for something I thought was comparable, as I could not afford a new one now that I am a pensioner. Then I came across Gorenje. They own ASKO and are made in the same country if not the same factory - Slovenia. So that was a huge tick in their favour regarding quality. They are not a well known brand in Australia, but in Europe are well known. I searched for reviews and found quite a few which were quite positive. I then looked at the features of this machine and it basically had all I wanted - fast spin, large load, latest drum technology and many programs that are multi variable. This last point also happens to be a little problem this machine has. The programs are many and variable and they have taken quite a while for me to understand. Also, you can’t control every option with every cycle. I would like to have the ability to manually choose what temperature and spin speed I use with each program. Another problem is you are not told how long each cycle section goes for, unlike the (much shorter!) owners manual that came with my ASKO. I would have liked to have known which cycle does the longest wash - for my whites - and how many rinses each cycle does - most important with my black clothes to get rid of any possible powder. Another little problem is that this machine only has a cold water inlet and heats up the water by its own electrical element. My house has gas hot water which is considerably cheaper and I would have liked the option to tap into that - no pun intended! But, in spite of my fussiness, I really do love the large glass door, the fast spin, the brilliant washing action, the large capacity on the cotton cycle, the price and, of course, the colour. I now just have to wait and see if I get 19 years from this machine - and yes, I did purchase the extended warranty. Yes, I would definitely recommend it be put on your very short list for a new machine.
