High Efficiency Appliances

Highly energy efficient appliances can reduce your household energy consumption and electricity bills, compared with similar capacity but less efficient models. Some States and Territories periodically have rebate schemes and other initiatives to incentivise the uptake of more energy efficient appliances. We advise checking your local government site for information on any schemes that may be applicable where you live. If no such schemes are currently in place, you can still enjoy reduced energy use and power bills by selecting a more energy efficient fridge, freezer or heat pump dryer, like the ones on this page.

A helping hand for your electricity bills

If you’re looking to buy a new appliance for your home that’s more energy efficient than the one it’s replacing, you’ll enjoy the possible savings on energy bills it can bring.

Appliances Online stocks hundreds of different appliances often deemed eligible for rebates under government schemes. Whether you’re looking to refresh your kitchen with a top mount, bottom mount or French door fridge, stock up on frozen meals with an upright or chest freezer, or take the hassle out of laundry day with a heat pump dryer, Appliances Online has models from leading brands including Bosch, Westinghouse, Haier and Fisher & Paykel.

Heat pump dryers, fridges and freezers

Heat pump dryers tend to have energy efficiency ratings of at least 7 stars, compared to vented clothes dryers which have no more than 2 stars. Based on average household use, this difference in energy efficiency can equate to differences in running costs of over $100 a year. Over the lifetime of the dryer, this can lead to significant savings as well as a reduced carbon footprint.

Fridges, freezers and fridge freezers are the few appliances that run continually in your home, using electricity day and night. It pays, therefore, to buy a more energy efficient model when it's time to replace your old one. Look for models with higher energy star ratings. Highly efficient appliances can cost more than less efficient  models to buy upfront due to their advanced technology, but over time their lower running costs can offset the additional initial outlay.

Energy Efficient Appliance Rebates for South Australia

If you live in South Australia, you may be able to claim an energy efficiency rebate of up to $600 in 2025 thanks to the SA Government REPS program. While all care has been taken to ensure that products displayed here are eligible for a rebate under current South Australian government schemes, we strongly recommend you visit the Eligibility Check at MAC Trade Services.

Rebates for selected energy efficient appliances in South Australia 2025

If you’re looking to buy a new appliance for your home that’s more energy efficient than the one it’s replacing, you’ll already enjoy the possible savings on energy bills it will bring. If you live in South Australia, you might also be able to claim an energy efficiency rebate of up to $600 in 2025 thanks to the SA Government REPS program.

What is REPS?

REPS stands for Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme. It’s a South Australian Government scheme that incentivises households and businesses in SA to save energy. It commenced in 2021, following on from the SA Government’s REES program, which ran for a decade prior.

What appliances can you claim the REPS rebate for in South Australia?

The rebate scheme applies to selected energy efficient clothes dryers, fridges, fridge/freezers or freezers that are in use at a South Australian address.

Appliances Online has hundreds of SA REPS-eligible energy-efficient appliances to choose from.

How much rebate can you get?

Clothes dryers, fridges and fridge/freezers that meet the energy efficiency criteria are eligible for varying rebate amounts.

Appliance

Rebate Range

Clothes Dryers

From $110 - $600

Fridge

From $40 - $280

Fridge/Freezer

From $40 - $520

Freezer

From $40 - $300

When can an eligible South Australian apply for the rebate?

As long as your appliance is purchased and delivered in 2025, you can apply for the rebate as soon as you have your new eligible appliance delivered to your home. If you've already bought an eligible dryer, fridge or freezer after January 1, 2025 and it is delivered in 2025, you can still apply for the rebate.

How do you apply for the SA REPS rebate?

There are a few simple steps to claim your rebate, but for the sake of saving potentially hundreds of dollars, it’s well worth a few minutes of your time!

You can claim the rebate through MAC Trade Services, an energy solutions company that works with energy retailers to facilitate REPS rebates under the SA Government's energy savings program. This initiative helps households and businesses reduce energy use, lower their carbon footprint, and save on utility bills.

Here’s what the rebate process looks like:

Check the new appliance is eligible. Visit the Eligibility Check at MAC Trade Services to check whether the heat pump dryer, fridge, fridge/freezer or freezer you have your eye on is eligible. If you have chosen a product from this page it should be eligible, but Appliances Online strongly recommends confirming eligibility before purchase. Multiple appliance types can be applied for on the application form, and you can claim multiple items of the same category, like dryers, as long as you bought them on the same day.

Submit an application. Complete and submit the four-step online application at MAC Trade Services.

Await assessment outcome. The team at MAC Trade Services will then assess your application to make sure it ticks all the REPS requirements boxes. If so, you will receive confirmation and the ‘Activity Record’.

Receive your rebate! Payment for eligible rebate applications is transferred directly to your bank account.

How long will it take to get your rebate?

Your rebate may take up to 60 days to be processed, from the date your application is verified and approved. You may also receive a call to confirm your information before the rebate is approved.

Can you claim any other rebates as part of the SA REPS scheme?

You may be eligible for an additional rebate. Under the REPS program, any resident or small business is eligible for the GENERAL rebate value. However, Priority Group (PG) or Hardship Households may be eligible for an additional rebate significantly higher than the general amount. As part of the application process, you will be asked whether you have a government pension, concession, or health care card to determine your eligibility for the higher PG rebate. For more information, please contact MAC Trade Services on 1300 430 917.

What should you do now?

If you're thinking about upgrading your old fridge, freezer or dryer, you should shop for eligible appliances while they are in stock and while the scheme is still running!
