What are the benefits?

Winning Care is a monthly-paid policy with a no lock-in contract which gives you the flexibility to choose for how long you want to stay protected. With cover starting from just $3.99 per month³ on some household appliances, Winning Care offers a broad range of features and benefits like accidental damage, common faults¹, mechanical and electrical breakdown, theft² and many more:

Winning Care is available on selected appliances priced between $251 - $10,000. Eligible appliance categories include:

What’s covered?

Accidental Damage

You’re covered for unintentional drops or liquid spills that damages the functioning of your appliance.

Common Faults¹

We protect against common faults not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

Breakdown

Unlimited repairs for mechanical and electrical breakdown after any part of the manufacturer's warranty ends.

In-Home Repairs (for large appliances)

For large appliances, any repairs under Winning Care will, where possible, be undertaken in your premises if those repairs can be carried out effectively and safely (as determined reasonably by us).

Theft (TV⁴ & entertainment only)

If your appliance is taken by force from you, or from a secured premises.

No Charge if No Fault Found

If the repair agent cannot find a fault with your appliance, you will not be charged for the inspection fee. The repair agent will invoice us directly and we will cover this expense. Where there is no fault found, we will cover the cost for the call out and the inspection fee. In the event the claim is not covered by the manufacturer, but is covered under the terms of the policy, we will reimburse you.

What’s not covered?

Accidental loss and negligence

Any instances of negligence, loss or damage to the appliance caused by your negligence or intention, or that of any other person in respect of the appliance.

Cosmetic damage

Repairs to cosmetic items, such as paint or finishing, which do not affect the functionality of the appliance.

Damage to accessories

The cost of replacing any non-essential accessories or other item, either external or internal that is intended to be replaceable. This includes but is not limited to items like fuses, batteries, light bulbs, attachments, cables, plugs, light covers.

Theft (White goods only)

If your appliance is taken by force from you, or from a secured premise.

After you’ve purchased an appliance from us and you haven’t taken up extended protection, we’ll get in touch to offer you Winning Care where you’ll receive your first 3 Months FREE. Or, you can choose to take out a policy at any time up to 7 days after your delivery by visiting here.

Winning Care is available on appliances in the white good & TV and entertainment categories with a purchase price over $251 and no greater than $10,000 at the time you originally purchased the appliance.

Please refer to the Combined Product Disclosure Statement and Financial Services Guide for further information on eligibility criteria. 

The period of cover starts on the date shown on your policy document.

Accidental damage and theft cover starts from the date you purchase the policy. However, mechanical and electrical breakdown will start after any part of your manufacturer’s warranty has ended.

Cover will end if any of the following occurs: 

  • the policy is cancelled by you or us;
  • the policy expires (e.g. if the policy is not renewed);
  • if under a term of this policy we replace your appliance for a new one;
  • you receive a replacement credit.

The first 3 months will be free of charge for your new insurance policy thereafter a monthly premium will be payable based on appliance purchase price, as advised at the time the policy is purchased. 

Appliances Online sell Winning Care over the phone and online Australia wide. When a customer purchases an eligible appliance, they can take up a policy here, up to seven days after the appliance is delivered. If a customer purchases an eligible appliance over the phone,they can ask the sales member to add Winning Care to their purchase.

Your premium will be calculated at the time of purchase and you will be informed about how much your premium will cost prior to purchase.

When we calculate your premium, we consider the type of appliance and its original purchase price, the length of cover, government charges (like GST or stamp duty) and any other charges. 

You can be covered by Winning Care for as long as you like. You simply continue to pay your monthly premium to maintain protection and you can choose to cancel anytime. 

If your appliance or an essential accessory suffers a sudden and unexpected failure arising from a mechanical or electrical fault during your period of cover, we will repair or replace the appliance.

If your appliance or an essential accessory suffers physical damage caused by an unintentional act, or unforeseen and/or uncontrollable incident, including accidental drops and falls, as well as liquid spills, we will repair or replace the appliance.

What isn’t covered?

You will not be covered: 

If your appliance breaks down, is accidentally damaged or stolen, please contact us on the Winning Care claims line 1800 316 717 with details of the incident.

Cover against theft is available on TV and Entertainment categories only. If your appliance is stolen, please contact Domestic & General on 1800 316 717 with details of the incident including the police report. To enable them to process your claim, you will need to complete a Theft and Burglary Claims Form (also available online at www.domesticandgeneral.com.au/customer-service).

When a replacement is issued through Appliances Online you will be required to contact the retailer directly.

For large appliances, at your request, we will cover delivery and basic installation of the replacement appliance and removal of the replaced appliance. 

At time of replacement, we will arrange delivery free of charge to your nominated address.

If the repair agent cannot find a fault with your appliance, you will not be charged for the inspection fee. The repair agent will invoice us directly and we will cover this expense.

In the unlikely event that you have to pay the bill, we will reimburse you all reasonable costs we have agreed to prior to inspection on receipt of a valid tax invoice. 

There is no limit to the number of times you can claim for repairs during your period of cover, unless you receive a replacement appliance, or a replacement credit is issued as a result of a claim. In this case, your policy will end. 

Where a courier is required, we will cover the costs within Australia of transporting your appliance, excluding large appliances (unless unable to be repaired at your premises), to our approved repairer and back again.

With Winning Care you have the flexibility to cancel your policy at any time without any fee(s). However, you must provide 14 days’ notice prior to your next scheduled payment to avoid any future premiums being deducted.

A 14-day cooling-off period applies from the date Winning Care cover commences.

If you choose to cancel your policy during the cooling off period, and you have not made a claim, you will receive a refund of your premium less any government taxes, levies, duties or charges Domestic & General cannot recover. 

If you choose to cancel your Winning Care policy outside the cooling-off period, you will not be issued a refund but will remain covered until the end of your monthly payment cycle.
