Appliance Talk Ovens

A Smeg oven and Caessarstone kitchen benches have been highlighted as key selling points for Rob Jahrling’s (Sydney Olympics 2000 Men’s eights rowing Silver medalist) $1.3 million property at Balgowlah, Sydney.

A kitchen and it’s appliances may not make or break a sale, but they are definitely a “tick in the right box”, according to Sue O’Brien from Raine and Horne Manly.

O’Brien, who is managing the the Balgowlah sale, told Appliances Online that the latest appliances, especially European appliances improve the overall value of a property.

“In suburbs where expectations are high, we find higher-end appliances. European appliances are known for their quality and longevity and this is why they are a sellable feature,” O’Brien said.

“Especially to the cook in the house.”

First impressions count

In terms of renovating, a new kitchen can add a lot of value to a house’s worth. Last week, Appliances Online took a look at home renovating -how to make the most of it and tips for first time renovators.

John Winning, Appliances Online CEO, said that when people spend money on a makeover, they will get it back.

“One of the biggest renovating trends over the past year has been to create the kitchen as the centre of the home – and the oven is often the first design element in any renovation process.”

“It’s the perfect time to renovate – as consumers have access to more technologically advanced products than ever seen before, at the right price,” Winning said.

“A well-executed renovation can earn an excellent return on investment. Creating an environment that is modern, stylish and highly functional can also improve time efficiency and well being.

Having once had to sit on the washing machine to stop it from bouncing into oblivion, Keri is today delighted with the new (smoother running) technologies that make housework easier every day. A self-confessed lazy-bones, Keri seeks out quirky inventions that ease the human workload, such as the robotic vacuum cleaner (wow). And as soon as someone figures out a Jetsons-like self-cleaning house, she will happily lay her pen to rest and retire from appliance journalism. Until then, her pick is a fridge that will tell her smartphone when it's time to pick up more beer on the way home. Magic.
