Laundry Washers & Dryers

Quite a few customers have been inquiring whether top load washers and front load washers hold capacity equivalence. The answer is….. – No. Typically you can fit more clothes in a front load washer than a top loader. This all depends on fabrics used in the cycle. On average a front loader with the same capacity of a top load washer usually holds around four to five more garments.

A major factor that hinders the capacity of a top loader is the agitator. Placed in the middle of the machine it can create disruption for clothes, as they cling to the agitator during a spin. Therefore, fewer clothes are able to be washed sufficiently. Not to mention, a big long instrument taking up room in the washer. No agitator means a gentler wash for the clothes. Sometimes agitators can be known to wear out the clothes after a while. It also really depends on the fabrics placed inside the washer. This is when fewer clothes are better; the fewer clothes you place in the washer, the more room there is to move.

Another factor that places the front load washer at an advantage capacity wise is the amount of water and foam used for running a cycle. Front load washers require less water and the detergent used has fewer suds consequently creating less foam in the machine. So, less water and less foam equals more room for clothes. An additional aspect that creates greater capacity for clothes is the need for no conditioner or softener on the clothes.

The real question is – How large is your load? If you wash small loads one at a time then these facts don’t concern you. You might prefer having a top loader so you won’t be bending down to put clothes in the machine. You might like the idea of being able to put clothes in the top load washer once the cycle has begun. . Make sure you weigh up your options and know what is best for you and your washing regime! You never know a few extra inches in the washer can make a huge difference.

So what will it be?
