Appliances to hibernate with this autumn and winter

Appliance Talk Heating & Cooling

There’s no escaping it! The leaves are turning, the nights are cooler, the southerlies have just that little bit more bite.

With the exception of the Northern Territory and those lucky sods in Queensland, the rest of us are well into autumn and preparing for the inevitable winter witch that follows.

But it’s not all that bad!

It means that it’s time for the opposite of a spring clean.

It’s time to prepare for hibernation and the hunkering down to nights with soup in a warm house.

It’s a comfy time of year if you prepare your house properly. First, you’ll need a good heater to suit your home and budget.

The heaters

The heater, or the heaters in your home will determine whether you curse winter, or cosy into it.

Gas heaters offer an affordable and environmentally friendly way to heat your house.

Smaller houses or units will appreciate the space saving quality of a panel heater, which also looks good and has the added benefit of a thermostat.

Thermostats and constant, reliable heating are also a feature of column heaters; they are also a safe option for homes with children.

Comfort food

Comfort food doesn’t have to be bad for you. Stews and soups are full of healthy winter vegetables like carrots and broccoli.

You’ll need a good slow cooker. They are little beauties for the time poor people as well, and they’ll save you money on the grocery bill. Affordable cuts of meat, like chuck steak, can be thrown in alongside some veges in the morning. By the time you get home from work, voila, dinner is ready and it’s hearty and wholesome.

Similarly effective are soup makers, which also double up as baby food makers. They couldn’t be easier to use and are very mess free. Pop the ingredients in, choose if you’d like your soup chunky and smooth and in 20 minutes you have soup.

A clean home is a cosy home

Hygiene is an important consideration in winter. To minimise the chance of sniffles, colds and flus doing the rounds in your home, keep it clean.

Use an air purifier  to prevent the spread of winter germs – they are great in kid’s rooms as they are often more sensitive to harmful airborne substances.

Dehumidifiers can help prevent the growth of mould by keeping a drier atmosphere, this is great for allergy, asthma suffers as well as those with respiratory problems or sensitivities.

Having once had to sit on the washing machine to stop it from bouncing into oblivion, Keri is today delighted with the new (smoother running) technologies that make housework easier every day. A self-confessed lazy-bones, Keri seeks out quirky inventions that ease the human workload, such as the robotic vacuum cleaner (wow). And as soon as someone figures out a Jetsons-like self-cleaning house, she will happily lay her pen to rest and retire from appliance journalism. Until then, her pick is a fridge that will tell her smartphone when it's time to pick up more beer on the way home. Magic.

Buying household and personal items are now possible using the Internet. In fact, there are many websites which specifically describe the features of the items as well as its photos in different angles. If you are thinking about the shipment this is not a problem anymore because they also allow shipments within US and sometimes International shipments too. The good thing about these online stores or shopping sites is they also offer discounts which lessen the pain in our pocket. Since these items can be purchased online, discounts are offered through promo codes and discount vouchers. Thank you for sharing this wonderful article. Keep it up!
