Appliance afficionado Colin Jones has long been hailed around our offices for his wisdom of whitegoods.

But his penchant for products has now permeated our walls and reached a much wider audience.

The customer services representative has just finished an eight week segment on Warren Moore’s Sunday morning 2GB radio show, and he has been beaming about the experience.

“I’ve never done anything like that before,” he said.

“It was all new and different, but it was great fun.

“I would have liked longer with Warren, but the main thing was the acknowledgment of Appliances Online, and to get our name out there. That was the whole purpose of going on radio.”

The father-of-three, who has more than 30 years’ experience in whitegoods and appliances, is recognised as our most knowledgeable rep. Tied in with his passion and natural flare for the industry, he was the obvious choice to voice the weekly radio promotion.

He was heard by thousands of people live on a Sunday, and hundreds have watched his clips back on YouTube. His popular cartoon face videos were also reported on by industry publications.

During the run he discussed induction cooking, washing machines, pyrolytic ovens, air conditioners and BBQs. He rounded off the series by giving a bit of background on Appliances Online and the sister company, BigBrownBox.com.au.

He said: “It is important for us that our customers, and any new customers, are informed about the best products and ranges on the market.

“Many Australians aren’t aware of advances in cooking technology and the invention of pyrolitic ovens and induction cook-tops, so it was a great forum to help spread the word.

“We wanted to ensure people were given an overview of as many appliances as possible to help them when buying with us online, and I’d like to think it was helpful.”

The one and a half minute packages were part of a wider radio marketing drive, and John Winning, CEO of Appliances Online, said: “We are continually innovating, and testing marketing strategies.

“This was one of our initial forays into a radio branding campaign and while we haven’t been able to measure its results as thoroughly as we are used to with online-only advertising, it was a great value-add to have adedicated appliance segment.”
