Connectivity to your home network for enhanced functionality and a smorgasbord of Smart features.

We’ve already looked at a line-up of Samsung appliances which incorporate wi-fi. Now we’ll have a look at what their suite of TVs for 2013 have to offer.

Samsung promises a truly dynamic, interactive experience. Here’s a few reasons why:

TVs that give you more content – before you even know you want it!

S-Recommendation is Smart – it’s such a smart idea it should be wearing shoulder patches and smoking a pipe.

With the vast amounts of content out there, this feature will help you find the stuff that suits your taste … and it can even do so pre-emptively.

Samsung S-Recommendation

Let’s say you’re in the mood to scope out Free-To-Air. Well, you can use the “On TV” panel – an interface that employs “S-Recommendation” to deliver the shows you want to watch.

As well as an image of the show you’re currently tuned to, the “On TV” panel will also display a grid showing other appealing stuff that’s on simultaneously – plus information about what’s scheduled to come up up next.

Initially, your TV will organise and recommend stuff in this panel based on popularity … however, over time it will be able to learn your viewing habits, then suggest great viewing choices based on what you dig the most.

Voice Interaction. Cooler than Johnny Depp’s goatee.

This, to us, is an absolute knock-out: the ability for natural language recognition (and Samsung have worked hard to master the unique qualities of the Australian accent).

…S-Recommendation will then dish up a list of programs in sync with your request that also match your viewing habits (you can also change volume, channels, navigate menus etc etc).

Oh and the Smart Touch Remote also includes a touchscreen for more precise use of the Smart Hub – and precision is assured thanks to Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

Samsung says that compatible TVs will be able to understand “almost anything” that they are asked (although  we’d suggest avoiding any questions pertaining to existentialism, the meaning of life in a cold and brutal universe, or your love life).

And that’s not the only example of Smart Interaction

Motion Control for example, is a feature so classy it could be sharing an espresso with George Clooney. This will enable you to:

• Use hand gestures to select apps and other great content.

• Use two hands to zoom and rotate a photo on the screen (NB, kids, this feature is only available on LEDF8000 and PSF8500).

• Navigate the panels of the entertainment Smart Hub with a flipping motion (but nothing rude, now.)

‘Appiness is just an app away

Choose from a wide selection to apps that add extra content and features to your entertainment.

Smart Hub - Apps

From apps that provide stream-lined access to movies on demand via BigPond and Quickflix, apps that help you program a fitness regime, apps for music streaming, access to Catch-up services, communication with friends and family via social networks, enhanced web browsing capabilities … and more!

Your Samsung Smart TV will become a spectacular portal to a wealth of content and functionality … where everything comes together via one incredible, smooth-running interface.
