Dyson has long been recognised for it’s innovative technology and the new Hot+Cool fan doesn’t disappoint.

The blade-less fan heater uses Dyson’s famed Air Multiplier technology. What appears to be the miraculous gushing out of air is actually a motor with turbocharger and jet engine technology that draws in air from grills around the base and pushes it out the other side.

With the Hot+Cool fan, Dyson has included a couple of ceramic heating stones inside the loop to heat the air before it is accelerated out. This enables it to heat up a room quickly.

Because it can double as a cooling fan or a heater, the temperature settings range from 1 to 37 degrees Celsius. This is unlike ordinary heaters which don’t offer a cooling function.

It has a small footprint, making it ideal for small rooms, in corners, or under desks. It is 58 centimeters high and weighs a little over 2.50 kilograms.

For safety’s sake the air next to the loop is kept cool so that the fan is cool to touch, and if it is knocked over it will cut out automatically.

As with other Dyson fans, it has remote control for precise temperature control, which attaches itself to the top by a magnet.

Dyson also points out that since there is no place for dust to collect on hot elements, no nasty heater smell is given off.

A heater like this might come in handy this Autumn on the east coast of Australia, where it has been forecast to be cooler than usual.
