Appliance News Ovens & Cooking

A few weeks ago we told you about making a coffee using your iPhone, so it was only a matter of time until more kitchen appliances could be operated by your mobile phone.

Consumer electronics pioneers LG launched its latest microwave oven in Korea yesterday (July 30), boasting the ability to be controlled remotely by a smartphone.

Considered a world first, the Smart Studio Wave Oven combines microwave, grill, convection, fermentation and toasting cooking functions with halogen light technology – with the added feature of smartphone integration.

Cooking time and temperature can be controlled and set remotely, while the oven also offers what the brand is calling “unique energy efficient features”.

So whether you are looking to pre-heat the oven before you to get home from work or you are simply too comfortable on the couch and don’t want to get up, the Smart Studio Wave Oven offers households true convenience without compromising on quality.

For now, the new oven is only available in Korea and is valued at US$745.

For Australian LG fans looking to update their kitchens before the Smart Studio Wave Oven possibly hits our shores, the brand released a host of new home appliances earlier this month.

A new LG GC-L247ENSL side-by-side fridge – also featuring non-plumbed water and ice dispensing – was unveiled, as well as the new 600-litre LG GR-W600GS top mount variety.

“Our products continue to be at the forefront of technology innovation, style and now more than ever, convenience,” LG Australia’s marketing manager Fiona Irving told us on July 19.
