Drowsy while driving? A tiny yet mighty espresso maker is ready to keep people perky on the road.

It’s time to put down the thermos and welcome the portable espresso machine for cars. It’s called Handpresso, no less.

The Handpresso Auto E.S.E weighs less than a kilogramme and manages 16 bar pressure powered by a car’s 12V cigarette lighter.

Coffee connoisseurs (read: snobs) may be reassured by the company’s assurance that thanks to the 16 bar pressure, “the espressos are delicious, creamy and tasty!”

The coffee gadget fits in a cup holder and uses self-branded coffee pods (similar to Nespresso’s) for a brew on the road in two minutes flat.

Plug it in, add the pod, water, and wait for the three beeps.

It has a water reservoir capacity of 53 milliliters, so really, it’s for those who like small cups of very strong coffee, perhaps not the majority of Australians with their cafe au lait love affair.

The Handpresso Auto E.S.E is made by a French company, who do like small cups of very strong coffee, and who also produce an array of equally as portable espresso devices such as the Handpresso Wild Hybrid which uses a bicycle-like pump for hand-held portable espressos.

Not convinced? If the company’s promotional video is anything to go by, this coffee is so good that it will transport your imagination to faraway places such as the European alps with beautiful women who like to touch you. That’s got to be good for you.

Bang! Sold for 149 euro, thanks.
